Mini Dev Update & Things...

Just a short one, putting down some time and some troubleshooting I have been doing these few days.

I have been looking into doing more in terms of functionality and giving me a reason to keep going. Hitting certain blocks does tend to lead me down an endless spiral which causes stress on myself and not being able to solve a problem grinds the project to a stop. I am trying my best to keep it moving, keep the fire burning and giving me room to test, try out new ideas and look at implementation within the project.

I need to really clean my Godot addons/assets folder...

Looking into Itch.io and creating a page. What was crazy, I looked through this page and was notified the ChatGPT can now create agents (self-contained virtual machines*) which lead me off track to test something... 'Hey GPT, can you initiate an agent to create me an Itch.io game page, you select the correct parameters and checkboxes and stuff?'

Then it did it, asked for my login information, then it worked. Good thing you can actually take control and input certain details and the Agent will update itself with the changes, if you want it to so soemthing like looking up certain points in Wikipedia or finding out as much information about a website based on usage, answering questions etc, it will try its best to scrape the web and click like an end-user. Give it a try.

New Slot Machine

I have been working on this little feature which is going to be involved as a key mechanic in the game to help the player progress and look into a bonus in the game.

Designing the slot machine is such a massive task and my last slot machine just wont suffice. I have been watching too many 'Mr. Hand Pay' videos on YouTube recently and my slot machine... its not appetising. I looked into 3D assets to incorporate into the design and finding a compatible, affordable and basic slot machine that fills that void.

I was able to implement a lovely looking slot machine, based on actual casino, making it look perfect with the post processing and also manipulating textures to give it a custom feel. I am able to do this based on the licencing.

Also working on this asset, I did hit some snags. Getting this from blender into Godot was a little bit of a pain. I managed to get it sorted, it was the fact that I did not do my research enough. I was able to look into getting assets into Godot as per my last blog post, however this one stumped me for some reason, might be because I am sleep deprived from excitement of this project... who knows. I managed to get it in clearly. I forgot to import it as a .glb and I was importing it as a .blend file.

I reached out to the Cloverpit devs recently just to see how they managed to create a screen. I am also looking at working with a fellow dev to combat some issues I am facing and has been a great mentor so far. If he wants a name drop, he can ask for it. I am looking into getting a screen that is a 2D/3D viewport or a sort of animated texture that will be able to show main aspects of the game. Hopefully be able to provide more content and information once I get it working.

Other Ideas...

I had a dream last night of a dark, gritty bakery. Similar mechanics I want to add into this game and how I can set the style for myself and use in other projects. I might look at adding more and building that idea at some point. I think that style of game might become more popular as a trend. Looking at other cooking games, they are all amazing in their own way but lacking a purpose or not focusing on actually playability, a story, which I could hook myself onto the actual development. For now, my focus is to look at creating this masterpiece* and have something ready to release into the wild.
